I'm giving you one lure two ways today, because the conditions are perfect for a finesse presentation. The water is clear, and the bass are likely to be in a neutral mood, so we need to coax them into biting. The SP01 5" Stick Bait in Green Pumpkin is going to be our go-to lure, and we'll be using it with both a wacky rig and a Texas rig.
â°Best Times to Fish
The low light and rising barometric pressure will make the bass more active, and the clear water will give us a good chance to see them.
The bass will start to move into shallower water as the day warms up, and the clear water will give us a good chance to see them.
đŁTop Lures for Today
5" Stick Bait - Green Pumpkin
Stick Bait
The wacky rig is perfect for a finesse presentation, and the Green Pumpkin color will give the bass a natural-looking bait to target.
Wacky Jig Head - 1/8oz
Wacky Jig
The Wacky Jig Head is perfect for adding a little weight to the presentation, and the black color will give the bass a subtle target to attack.
Wacky Rig O-Rings + Hook Kit
Wacky Rig Kit
The Wacky Jig Head is perfect for adding a little weight to the presentation, and the black color will give the bass a subtle target to attack.
Pro Tip
Pay attention to the wind direction and speed, and adjust your presentation accordingly. If the wind is blowing into the bank, try to cast parallel to the bank and let the bait sink to the bottom. If the wind is blowing away from the bank, try to cast at an angle and let the bait roll down the slope.
Where to Target
Hit those shady pockets along the bank, especially near any fallen timber or weed lines. The bass will be looking for a place to hide and ambush their prey, so we need to give them a chance to do that.
Avoid
Avoid fishing in areas with a lot of boat traffic or noise, as this will spook the bass and make them less likely to bite.
Safety Warning
Be careful when wading or fishing from a kayak, as the water can be slippery and the wind can make it difficult to stay balanced.
