Prime bite was this morning, but it's not ideal now with the high sun and clear sky. However, as we head into the late afternoon and early evening, I expect the bass to start gettin' a bit more active, especially with that rising barometric pressure. It's a finesse worm day, partner - let me show you three different ways to make 'em bite.
â°Best Times to Fish
As the sun starts to set, the bass will begin to get more active, especially in areas with some shade or structure. Look for them to start feedin' in the late afternoon.
As the sun dips below the horizon, the bass will really start to turn on, especially if there's some cloud cover to block out the last bit of sunlight. This is your best chance to get hooked up today.
If you're plannin' on fishin' tomorrow, the early morning bite should be decent, especially if that overcast sky rolls in. Look for the bass to be active in the shallows, especially around any vegetation or structure.
đŁTop Lures for Today
Finesse Worm - Green Pumpkin
Finesse Worm
The green pumpkin color is perfect for these clear water conditions, and the slow roll technique will give the bass a chance to inspect the bait without spookin' 'em.
Drop Shot Hook - #1
Drop Shot Hook
The deadstick technique is great for gettin' a bite from bass that are huddled together in tight spaces, and the green pumpkin color will still be effective in these conditions.
Drop Shot Weights - 3/16oz
Drop Shot Weight
The drag-and-drop technique is great for searchin' out bass in these clear water conditions, and the green pumpkin color will still be effective as the sun starts to set.
Pro Tip
Don't be afraid to experiment with different retrieval speeds and actions to see what the bass are lookin' for. Sometimes, a slight tweak in your presentation can make all the difference between gettin' a bite and gettin' skunked.
Where to Target
Hit those shady pockets along the bank, especially near any fallen timber or rock piles. The bass will be lookin' for a place to hide from the sun, and these areas will provide 'em with the perfect ambush spot.
Avoid
Steer clear of any areas with a lot of boat traffic or noise, as this'll just spook the bass and make 'em even more finicky.
Safety Warning
Make sure to stay hydrated out there, especially in this heat. Bring plenty of water and take breaks if you need to - it's better to be safe than sorry.
