The prime bite was this morning, but that doesn't mean we can't get hooked up this evening. With the wind dying down a bit and the sun setting, we might see a slight increase in fish activity. It's all about finesse presentations and working those shady areas. I'm giving you one lure, the finesse worm, three different ways to make 'em bite. It's a finesse worm day, partner, and I'm excited to share these techniques with you.
â°Best Times to Fish
As the sun sets, the bass will start to move into shallower areas to feed, making them more accessible to us. The low light will also make them less spooky, so we can get a bit closer without scaring them off.
Tomorrow morning, with that slight chance of rain and the barometric pressure changing, the bass should be feeding aggressively. The overcast skies will also reduce the amount of light penetrating the water, making the bass feel more secure and active.
đŁTop Lures for Today
Finesse Worm - Green Pumpkin
Finesse Worm
The green pumpkin color is perfect for this time of day, and the slow roll technique will allow the bass to get a good look at the bait without spooking them.
Drop Shot Hook - #1
Drop Shot Hook
The drop shot rig is perfect for getting the bait down to the bottom quickly and quietly, and the green pumpkin color will stand out against the sandy or rocky bottom.
Drop Shot Weights - 3/16oz
Drop Shot Weight
The jighead will give the bait a bit more action and attract the bass's attention, and the green pumpkin color will still be visible in the vegetation.
Pro Tip
When working the finesse worm, remember to keep your line as vertical as possible to avoid getting hung up on any underwater structure. This will also help you feel the bite better, as any deviation in the line can indicate a strike.
Where to Target
Hit those shady pockets along the bank, especially near any fallen timber or submerged structure. The bass will be looking for ambush points, so focus on areas with a mix of cover and open water. Don't forget to check any weed lines or lily pad fields, as these can be hiding spots for larger bass.
Avoid
Avoid areas with too much current or turbulence, as this can make it difficult to present the bait naturally. Also, steer clear of any areas with a lot of fishing pressure, as the bass can get wise to our tactics quickly.
Safety Warning
With the wind dying down, the water might get a bit choppy, so make sure to wear your life jacket and keep an eye on the weather. Also, be mindful of any underwater structure or hazards, especially when working the drop shot rig or jighead.
